Diamond Lake Wastewater Issues Community Process
The volunteers on this project have been busy over the past year. Monthly meeting have been held at the Watershed District’s office so the Committee can organize their efforts on this project. In March of 2008 the Committee received a $60,000 grant for the inspection of all septic systems in the R1 zone around the lake. These inspections were finished in July and an in-depth report will be sent out to every homeowner in the R1 zone that will include: results from their inspection, wastewater treatment options for that site, and estimated cost of the different treatment options. An informational meeting was held on Aug 16, 2008 to help homeowners understand the contents of the report that will be sent to their home. The community resolution process will culminate with a ballot vote for which wastewater treatment option that best suites the residents of Diamond Lake. The ballots should be going out in early 2009.
